Pre Submission Local Plan Part 1 Review

The current Local Plan part 1 was adopted in 2016. Since this was some time ago, we have revised the plan to consider changes in housing and employment requirements and improve the plan’s protections for the natural environment.

The draft Local Plan Part 1 Review consultation took place in Autumn 2024 and the information and documents are here.

We are now consulting on a revised draft of the Local Plan Part 1 for South Derbyshire which sets out a strategy updating how much, where and what type of larger development will take place across the area up to 2041. It will provide planning policies and site allocations to guide change and enhance new development proposals.

We are asking your views on…

The Council’s Pre Submission Local Plan Part 1. This is an update to the currently adopted Part 1 Local Plan.

Comments at this stage should only be made on legal compliance and soundness of the Plan, that is: has the plan been prepared in accordance with all legal and procedural requirements; and does the plan meet the prescribed tests of soundness set out in the National Planning Policy Framework.

Documents on the Local Plan Review Evidence Base page here are available for reference in your feedback.
