Eureka Park

Eureka Park developed from a simple recreation ground during the 1920s. Named after a coal seam which runs beneath it, it is a green oasis situated on Midland Road, Swadlincote, Derbyshire, DE11 0BA. The park was restored in 2014 with a Heritage Lottery Grant.

It is open all day, every day and has:

  • two junior football pitches
  • one netball court
  • two tennis courts - play for free
  • crown bowling green
  • children’s play area
  • natural water play area
  • crazy golf
  • toilets
  • picnic tables
  • performance area

'Invisible Heritage'

A programme has been designed to capture the park’s 'invisible heritage', which has been lost over time.

We need people to do things like hold or help with events and activities, garden and look after wildlife, research history, talk to younger people about times gone by, lead park walks, fundraise and contribute to social media.
