Get Active in The Forest (GAIF) is an outdoor activity programme designed to increase participation in sport and physical activity.
Most of the events and activities take place outdoors and make the most of our natural environment.
GAIF provides a programme of different physical activities at Rosliston Forestry Centre and around South Derbyshire. These are suitable for beginners and include walking, cycling, Tai Chi, Nordic walking, woodland laser combat and archery. You can also try orienteering at the forestry centre for the price of a map (£1 from the shop).
Many of the activities take place on a weekly basis and anyone can join in. All are led by either a member of staff or a trained volunteer.
GAIF also provides enrichment activities for school visits. These help young people make the most of the outdoors in a safe way whilst learning new life skills through a range of activities.
Schools can also use the activities to support transition from primary to secondary school, or as end of term rewards.
