Festival of Leisure

New features for Festival

Live music, interactive performances, attractions, a Cultural Quarter and, for the first time ever, a licensed bar, are among what will be available at South Derbyshire Festival of Leisure this year.

Taking place over two days and completely free of charge, the festival is offering a chocolate box of choices with features to suit all tastes and age groups.

This year’s event includes plenty of  laughs while watching Falconry Dismay, a chance to come face-to-face with a life size Triceratops who is part of the Dinosaur Invasion, and the return of the Maniax, providing a performance based on an amazing Houdini style escape packed with stunts, illusions and great comic routines.

Everything from traditional fairground rides to street food traders and crafters will be among the things to enjoy away from the performances.

A Cultural Quarter is part of the event, with a chance to experience Japanese culture with workshops, kimono wearing, and Japanese cuisine all included.

Live music will feature favourite performers from the region as well as award-winning Japanese singer-songwriter Mion, delivering a mixture of her original music (J-Pop, J-Rock & ballad) and covers of famous anime songs.

Those attending will be able to enjoy live performances across both days while enjoying a drink from the Baileys Bar. For those who prefer tea and cake, they will be an option too.

The South Derbyshire Festival of Leisure takes place in Maurice Lea Memorial Park, Church Gresley, on Saturday 22 June and Sunday 23 June from 11.30am to 5pm each day. Entry and car parking are completely free of charge.
