Swadlincote Christmas Lights Switch On
On Friday 30 November, the High Street and the Delph will become a hive of activity for 2 days of fun and frivolity, as the annual Christmas Lights switch on marks the start of the festive season in Swadlincote.
Local school choirs will fill the air with the sound of Christmas songs and carols from 11.00am-4.30pm on the Delph, while Burton & South Derbyshire College will spread the cheer with free mince pies, warm fruit punch and other Christmassy goodies.
From 2.00pm Santa will be arriving on the Delph with his Rotary sleigh.
At 5pm the evening celebrations will kick off with performances from School of Street and UC Dance followed by music from local vocalists Olly Mack, Lucy Floyd, April Davies and Swadlincote’s singing sensation – Kirby!
Around the town Sharpe’s Pottery Museum will be hosting their Christmas Craft Fair, Swadlincote Library will test you with a Treasure Hunt and Santa Paws will be at Stan’s Doggie Deli! The Dance and Music Centre will have Christmas gifts and Santa’s Grotto and the traditional market will be in full swing.
Come along and meet Poma the Penguin, Santa or a couple of his naughty elves and snap up a few ‘Elfies!
Or watch Santa take to the slopes at Swadlincote Ski Centre around 4.30pm
Join in with the 7pm countdown to launch a spectacular firework display, and see the town sparkle and glow as the Christmas trees and garlands light up the town.
For full details please see our entertainment programme (pdf, 177kb) and our activities (pdf, 8.2mb) taking place throughout the town.
