Tenancy Information

Your Tenancy Agreement

All tenants will need to sign a Tenancy Agreement contract which will be sent to you when your property is ready for you to move into.  There are Terms and Conditions to this contract that you must abide by.   You can read these and find out further information about your tenancy agreement

Fit to Let Standard

When you move into your new home, you should expect the fixtures and fittings to be of a certain standard.   You can read more about this in our Fit to Let Standards (doc, 153kb).  We do our best to ensure that your home is the best it can be but if things haven’t quite gone according to plan and you need to report any issues, you can do so on our housing repairs page.

Your Data Privacy

Each time a property is let, we collect and store information on our own secure systems.  South Derbyshire District Council also collects information about lettings on behalf of central government for the Continuous Recording of Social Housing Letting and Sales (CORE Lettings). Our privacy notices section of our website lets you know why we collect this information, what we do with it and how we keep your data safe.  Here you can also read the Housing Privacy Notice and the Core Lettings Privacy Notice.

Who to contact when you move

If you’re moving to a new home, there’s lots to think about, including advising various people and businesses of your new address.  Here’s a helpful list of businesses and organisations you may need to inform: Who to contact when you move (docx, 95kb).

When you move to a new home it can be helpful to work out your household budget. Complete the details in this income and expenditure form (docx, 188kb) to help you with this.

Universal Credit - support with paying your rent

If you are on a low income or currently receiving certain benefits, you may be entitled to help with paying your rent.  For most working-age people in South Derbyshire,  this will mean making a claim for Universal Credit. If you need to make a claim, or you already receive this benefit, here’s some information advising you what to do about Universal Credit when you start your new tenancy with us.

You can find out more about Universal Credit and make a new claim at: Universal Credit | South Derbyshire District Council
