The Charter for Social Housing Residents
This document, which was published in November 2020, sets out the Government’s plans to ensure that social housing tenants in England are safe, are listened to, live in good quality homes, and have access to redress when things go wrong.
The Charter for Social Housing Residents sets out seven core commitments that social housing residents should be able to expect from their landlord:
- To be safe in your home
- To know how your landlord is performing
- To have complaints dealt with promptly and fairly
- To be treated with respect – backed by improved consumer standards and regulation
- To have your voice heard by your landlord
- To have a good quality home and neighbourhood to live in
- To be supported to take your first step to home ownership
The proposals within the Charter will be discussed with tenants as part of the delivery of the Housing Customer Engagement Action plan.
