Support for victims of crime

Derbyshire Victim Services is the organisation that provides services to those affected by crime in the Derbyshire area.

Run by the independent charity Remedi, it consists of a group of organisations that have agreed to work together to give the best possible support to victims.

They help anyone who has been a victim of crime. It doesn’t matter whether or not the crime has been reported to the police or when it occurred.

If you require victim support, telephone Derbyshire Victim Services on 0800 612 6505 or visit the CORE website.

There is also a targeted support service for young people who have been victims of crime. Young people aged up to 18 can obtain specialist support through the Got Your Back website.

Most crimes are committed on the spur of the moment, prompted by valuables being left on display in a car or a window to a house being left open, for example. The best way to reduce risk is by taking sensible precautions.

The chances that you, or someone close to you, will be a victim of crime are low in South Derbyshire.

Lots of advice about ways to reduce crime in your community can be found on the Derbyshire Constabulary website.
