Annual Carbon Report

As part of the Council’s commitments to carbon neutrality, the Council publishes an Annual Carbon Emission Report that details the current in-house and district-wide annual carbon emissions and how these compare to previous years and the 2018/19 emissions baseline set out in the Climate and Environment Action Plan 2021-30.

This Carbon Reporting uses the HM Government (DEFRA) Environmental Reporting Guidelines (March 2019) and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) (2020) reporting guidance to collate and report on the Council in-house Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 carbon emissions.

The Carbon Report sets out the Council’s latest in-house Carbon Emission Reduction Roadmap to Carbon Zero and carbon emission trends along with recommendations and improvements that could be made. These are then fed into the Annual Climate and Environment Action Plan Review to ensure that the Council are continually improving the actions they are taking to deliver their carbon neutral commitments.

The latest Annual Carbon Report can be found here (docx, 221kb) and details how the Councils in-house Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions for the latest financial year (2021/22) have reduced by 22% compared to the 2018/19 baseline year.

In a similar way the Council’s in-house Scope 3 carbon emissions are detailed in the Report and have shown significant reductions from the baseline year (2018/19) to the current financial year (2020/21).
