Swadlincote Jobs Fair update
A jobs fair is to be held at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in Swadlincote on Thursday 25 April, between 10am and 12.30pm. The event is open to all, to drop in and find out what is on offer.
The Swadlincote Jobs Fair is being organised by the Department for Work and Pensions in partnership with South Derbyshire District Council.
The event will offer training opportunities, access to support agencies and job vacancies from a range of employers.
Several hundred full and part time vacancies will be on offer, with roles including administration, education, sales, customer service, hospitality, security, care, catering, cleaning, driving, production and warehouse operatives.
Employers looking for staff include Busy Bees, Chilled Pubs, Crazy Ladies Cleaning, Derbyshire Constabulary, East Midlands Airport , Helping Hands, Keystone Group, Logistic People, NHS, Royal Navy, South Derbyshire District Council, Teacher Active, and Timpson Ltd.
South Derbyshire Business Advice Service will be providing advice for anyone thinking of becoming self-employed. The Service can also help anyone starting out in business to apply for any grants or loans that they are eligible for.
A new service known as Beyond Barriers South Derbyshire will be on offer. People between the ages of 18 and 64 can gain new skills, build up confidence, make connections in the local community and improve their chances of finding a job.
The event will also see the launch of ‘Jumpstart’ – offering free short training courses to help people back into work or further training. The courses available include hospitality & catering, logistics, business & retail, cleaning, and health & care.
A previous jobs fair in Swadlincote attracted over 270 people looking for work, with excellent feedback from jobseekers and employers alike. Over 100 jobseekers completed a job application on the day, 93 jobseekers left the event with an interview offer - and 25 received job offers before leaving.
