2025 Anniversary Calendar unveiled at Rosliston Forestry Centre
On Saturday, 19 October, Rosliston Forestry Centre hosted a grand unveiling of its 2025 Anniversary Calendar, commemorating 30 years of the centre and 50 years of South Derbyshire District Council.
Following a competition launched back in April, the calendar features a stunning selection of photographs, each submitted by members of the public of all ages and skill levels. Each month features a photograph that showcases some of the picturesque views and the rich heritage of Rosliston Forestry Centre. A panel curated a healthy number of entries, leading to the selection of the exceptional winning images that now grace the calendar pages.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to meet some of the talented photographers behind the captivating images. Council Chair Cllr Sean Bambrick spoke at the event, expressing his pride in the community’s involvement, stating: “It was wonderful to see so many entries and to celebrate with a finished calendar that truly captures the unique beauty of Rosliston Forestry Centre. It’s great that people can now purchase it - as it supports a worthy cause, and it would make a wonderful gift for Christmas for anyone who appreciates this spectacular part of South Derbyshire.
Jonathan Danson who supplied the September image, also had the prestige of being selected for the front cover added: “I am really happy to be chosen for September and for the calendar’s front cover. I was quite lucky, as the light really looked nice with the trees when I took the shot. I was very happy for it to get picked and I have been looking forward to seeing the finished calendar.”
The calendar is now available for purchase. Priced at £6.99, all proceeds will go towards supporting vital conservation efforts and educational programmes at the Forestry Centre. The launch also coincided with a successful Science Discovery Fun Day, a repair café and Marches Energy Advice hub which provided a vibrant backdrop of creativity and community spirit to the calendar’s unveiling.
