Remembrance and Armistice Day Events announced
This year's Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day commemorations to honour the sacrifices of the Armed Forces have been confirmed.
Swadlincote will mark both occasions with services and a community parade, which will feature a two-minute silence to pay respects to all who served and sacrificed for their country.
Please wear warm clothing and appropriate footwear for the prevailing weather conditions. All are welcome to attend.
Remembrance Sunday, 10 November
The event will begin at 10:05 a.m. as the parade forms on High Street (outside John Mills Curtains and Blinds) and steps off at 10:15 a.m. At 10:30 a.m., members of the Royal British Legion will join the march at The Delph, continuing to the Memorial Gates at Eureka Park. The formal service will begin at 10:50 a.m., with the traditional two-minute silence at 11:00 a.m., followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and blessing.
Evening Services
Additional indoor services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Church in Swadlincote and 5:00 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel in Church Gresley.
Armistice Day, 11 November
Gather at 10:45 a.m. outside the Town Hall on The Delph, Swadlincote for a brief service leading up to the 11:00 a.m. silence. A closing blessing will conclude the service at 11:02 a.m.
