Remembrance commemoration arrangements confirmed

The arrangements for the annual Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday commemorations have been confirmed for 2023.

There will be a short Service of Remembrance on Armistice Day (10.50 – 11.15am, Saturday, 11 November) on the Delph, outside Swadlincote Town Hall.

The Remembrance Sunday Parade (Sunday, 12 November) will start at The Delph, Swadlincote and culminate in an outdoor service and wreath laying at the War Memorial Gates at Eureka Park

On the Sunday there will be a service at Hill Street Baptist Church, Hill Street, Swadlincote, commencing at 9.30am. There will also be an evening service at 4.00pm at Emmanuel Church, Church Street, Swadlincote.

If you wish to join the parade only, people are advised to arrive at the Delph by 10.25am. If you prefer to go straight to the War Memorial Gates at Eureka Park, please arrive by 10.45am.

Councillor Sean Bambrick, Chair of South Derbyshire District Council: “We are expecting another large turnout, as we know how important it is for people across South Derbyshire to be able to pay their respects on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
