Free Tree Scheme returns
South Derbyshire residents, schools, community groups and organisations can apply to make their surroundings greener and leafier as the annual Free Tree Scheme returns.
Delivered in partnership with The National Forest the scheme celebrates its 23rd consecutive year in South Derbyshire and keeps growing from strength-to-strength.
This year’s tree choices are hazel, holly, alder buckthorn and juniper. South Derbyshire residents can apply for up to two trees - schools, businesses and other organisations can apply for up to ten.
Councillor Alistair Tilley, Chair of the Environmental Education Project Steering Group said: ‘’I am delighted his popular scheme is returning and is now in its 23rd year.
“It’s a great way for everyone, even if you don’t have a large garden, to get involved and invest in their natural habitat and become a small part of the National Forest.“
You can find out more about the scheme or apply for your tree by visiting: www.southderbyshire.gov.uk/freetreescheme.

To help celebrate another year of free tree giveaways, the Environmental Education Project at Rosliston Forestry Centre (who administer the scheme) would really love to see photos of the trees being collected, planted, and growing.
