Swadlincote Jobs Fair

A jobs fair is to be held at The Grove Hall (Green Bank Leisure Centre) in Swadlincote town centre on Thursday 11 May, between 9.30am – 12.30pm. The event is open to anyone to come along.

The Swadlincote Job Fair is being organised by the Department for Work and Pensions in partnership with Burton & South Derbyshire College and South Derbyshire District Council.

The event will offer training opportunities, access to support agencies and job vacancies from a range of employers.

Several hundred full and part time vacancies will be on offer, with roles including administration, sales, customer services, lab technicians, care, catering, driving, welding, production and warehouse operatives.

Employers looking for staff include Bott, Carlisle Security, Cera Care, First Fence, Helping Hands, Lidl and Plastic Omnium, plus Unipart which is based at the new Mercia Park development. In addition, South Derbyshire District Council itself is seeking a Communities Team Service Assistant, a Digital Systems Specialist and ten Casual Active Community Coaches.

South Derbyshire Business Advice Service will be providing advice for anyone thinking of becoming self-employed. The Service can also help those starting out in business to apply for any grants or loans that they are eligible for.

A previous event in Swadlincote attracted over 160 people looking for work, with excellent feedback from jobseekers and employers alike. 124 jobseekers completed a job application on the day, with 24 jobseekers leaving the event with an interview offer - and four even receiving job offers before leaving.
