South Derbyshire Community Grant Fund – first deadline approaches
The Council is reminding local community and voluntary groups that the first call for applications to the South Derbyshire Community Grant Fund will close on 31 July 2023.
This new community grant fund, backed by UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Rural England Prosperity Fund monies, is open for applications from community and voluntary groups, third sector and not for profit organisations delivering community facilities, projects, and initiatives in South Derbyshire.
The Fund, which is being administered by South Derbyshire District Council, has £350,000 available over the next two years until March 2025. Capital grants of between £2,000 and £25,000 are available (up to 80% of total project costs) with a minimum project cost of £2,500. Match funding of 20% is required.
Applicants must demonstrate that their project meets one or more of the Shared Prosperity Fund outcomes and further information including a Guide to the Criteria, Application Process and Conditions of Funding is available on the Council’s website by searching for ‘Community Grants’ at www.southderbyshire.gov.uk.
Eligible applicants can then request an application form from the Council’s Community Partnership Officer by emailing sally.hemsley@southderbyshire.gov.uk.
Following this first application call, there will be an open rolling application process until the 31 December 2024 (to allow for completion of projects) or until all funding has been allocated.

The grant scheme is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK Government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025.The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
