New Chief Executive appointed for South Derbyshire District Council

South Derbyshire District Council’s new Chief Executive has been appointed.

Dr Justin Ives has 20 years of experience in Local Government with the last seven years as the Chief Executive at Hambleton District Council.

He takes over from Frank McArdle who retired on 31 March 2023 following 23 years as the council’s Chief Executive and a total of 47 years’ service to the council.

Dr Justin Ives said on his appointment: “It is an honour to be appointed as South Derbyshire District Council’s next Chief Executive.

“I look forward to working with officers and councillors to build upon the council’s success and help deliver the aspirations of the residents and businesses of South Derbyshire.”

Justin will take up his new role as Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service on Tuesday 2 May.
