Christmas lights event 2022 Christmas lights event 2022

Swadlincote Town Centre is set to be lit up with spectacular light displays incorporating illuminated performers, fairground rides and live music, to celebrate the start of Christmas festivities.

The event will run from 4pm to 8pm on Saturday 26 November and includes the switch on of the town’s Christmas lights, which will light up the town centre throughout the festive period.

Further celebrations are planned for 3 December when Swadlincote will host a Christmas themed Small Business Saturday event  with festive street entertainment and characters, live music and lots of free family activities to support shopping local.

The two events will be part of a larger programme of promoted seasonal events in the town centre, involving local businesses, organisations and attractions in the lead up to Christmas.

Councillor Kevin Richards, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said, “Christmas is a special time and I would encourage residents and visitors to save the dates in their diaries for what will be two great festive events. They will both be free entry and great fun for all ages”.

Further details of the events will be announced in the next few weeks and published on www.visitsouthderbyshire.co.uk

Following the Christmas events, work to replace the surface of The Delph and control vehicle access to the square will get underway early in the new year.
