Antiques in the Street hailed a success

A busy antique shopping event buzzed into Swadlincote’s The Delph and High Street on Sunday (20 March) and has been hailed a great success by organisers.

The new event attracted some estimated 2-3,000 visitors, who flocked to see an array of vintage traders offering antiques, collectables, vintage, retro and automobilia items for sale.

The Magic Attic local history archive exhibited in the Town Hall, along with Willow Coins Sales and Valuations to add to the visitor experience.

The town’s vintage shops, including Curly Magpie and Friends Vintage and Handmade Gift Shop, Salts Vintage and Interiors and The Urban Barn, along with Churchills Traditional Sweets, supported the event with many other businesses in the town centre opening specially in support.

The event was organised by local antique retailer Noble Robin Salvages and the Swadlincote Business Hub based in West Street and was supported by South Derbyshire District Council.

Ingrid van der Weide, Director of Swadlincote’s Business Hub said:

“It was a great day for many of the local businesses and charitable organisations that took part and from the feedback received, we are confident that Antiques in the Street will go from strength-to-strength.

“Sunday’s success stands us in great stead for the next event - which happens to fall on Father’s Day, and we hope this one will be even bigger and better.”

The next Antiques in the Street event is planned for Sunday, 19 June 2022. Anyone interested in taking part should contact the Swadlincote Business Hub on 01283 204004 or by email to info@swadbusinesshub.co.uk. People looking to visit are asked to keep an eye on the organiser’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/antiquesinthestreet or check in on the Visit South Derbyshire website for details of all upcoming events in the area (www.visitsouthderbyshire.co.uk).
