Way to Work - Swadlincote Job Fair

A jobs fair is to be held at the Adult Community Education Centre in Swadlincote on Wednesday 20 July, between 9.30am – 12.30pm.

The Swadlincote Job Fair is being organised by the Way to Work Partnership, including Burton & South Derbyshire College, Burton Albion Community Trust, Department for Work & Pensions, Derbyshire County Council, East Staffordshire Borough Council and South Derbyshire District Council.

The event will offer training opportunities, access to support agencies and job vacancies from a range of employers.

Several hundred full and part time vacancies will be on offer, with roles including administration, sales, customer services, lab technicians, care, catering, driving, welding, production and warehouse operatives. There will also be specific support available for Ukrainian evacuees.

Employers looking for staff include Amazon, First Fence, Granville Academy, KP Snacks, Tesco and South Derbyshire District Council. F. Brazil Reinforcements Ltd, one of the UK's leading manufacturers and suppliers of steel reinforcing products and services, is recruiting to a range of roles at its site at Woodville. SOCOTEC, the UK's leading provider of testing, inspection and compliance services, is recruiting to multiple roles for its base at Bretby.

South Derbyshire Business Advice Service will be providing advice for anyone thinking of becoming self-employed. The Service can also help anyone starting out in business to apply for any grants or loans that they are eligible for.

A previous event in Swadlincote attracted over 250 people looking for work, with excellent feedback from jobseekers and employers alike. 199 jobseekers completed a job application on the day, 81 jobseekers left the event with an interview offer - and three even received job offers before leaving.
