Come and say and a fond farewell to The Snowman™ and The Snowdog
Residents and visitors to Swadlincote can take part in a special event to say farewell to The Snowman™ and The Snowdog sculptures which have graced the town centre over the festive season.
The event, organised by South Derbyshire District Council, takes place on Saturday 15 January from 10am to 2pm.
Entertainment will include personal appearances at intervals by The Snowman and The Snowdog in town centre along with other characters.
Prizes will be on offer for children dressed as The Snowman and The Snowdog characters and face painting will be available.
The town crier will also be on hand to cry an official farewell to the sculpture trail.
Councillor Malcolm Gee, South Derbyshire District Council’s Chair, said: “The Snowman and The Snowdog sculpture trail has brought a lot of pleasure to families from far and wide who have visited Swadlincote and this fun event will be a great opportunity to say farewell.”
Local businesses have become involved since the trail has been in place in mid-November. Stan’s Pals has run competitions and the Chair will make presentations to the winners at 1pm outside their shop on Midland Road.
Councillor Gee continued: “It has been wonderful to see our local businesses joining in the spirit of The Snowman and The Snowdog trail by running competitions and decorating their shop windows, it has brought a great atmosphere to the town, which I hope will continue as we plan for future events over the coming year.”
