Festive greetings to The Snowman and The Snowdog
There will be activities galore for residents and visitors of all ages to Swadlincote this Saturday, 20 November, as the town welcomes The Snowman and The Snowdog sculpture trail.
Twelve individually painted sculptures of The Snowman from the popular Raymond Briggs storey together with a further eight sculptures of The Snowdog will bring a truly festive feel to Swadlincote.
Visitors can pick up a free map from Trail HQ on the Delph market square and follow the trail across the town.
Between 10am and 4pm, there will be lots of free activities including: a giant Christmas Snow Globe, the chance to fly though the air as The Snowman in a special Christmas simulator ride, live entertainment, festive characters and giveaways.
Councillor Malcolm Gee, South Derbyshire District Council’s Chair, said: “The launch of The Snowman and The Snowdog trail in Swadlincote is a fantastic opportunity for all ages to come together and join in the fun activities.
“It’s also a great opportunity to enjoy the town’s cafés and restaurants, to explore the many fantastic independent retailers, and to do some Christmas shopping.”

The Snowman and The Snowdog trail is part of the Council’s commitment to supporting local businesses, many of which will have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Snowman and The Snowdog initiative and events are brought to Swadlincote by South Derbyshire District Council and Wild in Art and are supported by the Welcome Back Fund from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)/HM Government.
The programme includes a series of projects, which will be part-funded up to the total value of the funding (£190,838), from the England European Regional
Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
