South Derbyshire residents reminded to be good neighbours

South Derbyshire residents are reminded of the need to be considerate to their neighbours following increases in noise and anti-social behaviour to South Derbyshire District Council.

Figures released by the Council show that during the months of April and May this year, the number of noise complaints has increased by 31 per cent over the average of the same period over the last three years in the months of April and May 2016 to 2019.

The number of anti-social behaviour complaints made to the council has also increased by 22 per cent over the average of the same period in April and May 2016 to 2019.

Councillor Andy Roberts, chairman of South Derbyshire District Council’s Housing and Community Services Committee, said:

“It’s understandable that while we have all been asked to socially distance, people will be spending more time at home but it is important that we all show respect to our neighbours and keep the noise down.

“Our officers will investigate complaints of noise and anti-social behaviour and will take legal action where appropriate.”
