Equality, diversity, and inclusion are an integral part of everyday life for South Derbyshire District Council and we’re committed to ensuring that the services we provide are accessible to our residents, businesses, and visitors.
Between April and November 2020, the Council undertook a series of engagement events in partnership with South Derbyshire CVS. The events included using meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams, as well as audio conferencing, telephone calls, emails, and text messaging to help identify equality, diversity and inclusion objectives and actions.
More than 100 people took part in those events which have helped to develop a draft Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy covering the next four years, along with an action plan. The Council’s Organisational Development team leading on that is grateful for the help.
In developing this strategy, the team also consulted with Elected Members, Council Officers and Trade Unions.
Before the final version of the Strategy is presented at Committee, comments and feedback on it are now being invited.
The strategy is available on the website here: Draft Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy 2021-25 and you’ll also find an action plan setting out how the Council we will deliver the strategy in the services it provides. You can get a quick view of what this includes too.
When feeding back, please consider the following question:
Is there anything you think the Council could consider doing differently to ensure its services are fair, equal and inclusive?
Please email your comments and thoughts to equalities@southderbyshire.gov.uk by Thursday, 4 February 2021.
We look forward to hearing from you.
