Christmas bin collections in South Derbyshire

This Christmas season will see changes to bin collections in South Derbyshire.

Extra cardboard can be left next to the green bin on the next collection day.

The centre also accepts textiles and Tetra Pak cartons.

There will be no brown bin collections on the following days:

  • Tuesday 29 December
  • Wednesday 30 December
  • New Year’s Eve, Thursday 31 December.

Green bins will be collected as usual on these days.

  • Bins due to be collected on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December, will be emptied on Tuesday 29 December
  • Bins due to be collected on Monday 28 December will be emptied on Wednesday 30 December
  • Bins due to be collected on New Year’s Day, Friday 1 January, will be emptied on New Year’s Eve, Thursday 31 December.

Black bins will be emptied as usual on the following days:

  • Tuesday 29 December

  • Thursday 31 December.

Bins may be collected at different times to usual and all bins should be left out by 6am on the collection days above.

Residents can check their collection dates at any time by visiting: www.southderbyshire.gov.uk/bindates.

Recycling, waste and electrical items can also be taken to the Bretby Household Waste and Recycling Centre operated by Derbyshire County Council. This is open from 8.30am to 6pm each day and is closed on Christmas Day, Friday 25 December; Boxing Day, Saturday 26 December and New Year’s Day, Friday 1 January.
