Saluting South Derbyshire’s heroes
Residents of South Derbyshire are praising key staff who are continuing to provide key services by South Derbyshire District Council during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
People have sent messages thanking staff for continuing to carry out all the usual bin collections (black, green and brown bins).
Whilst many council staff are working from home to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19); our customer services teams are continuing to answer queries from residents in our call centre, buildings maintenance teams continue to keep offices clean for the small number of staff who continue to use them and staff are also continuing to carry out low- maintain parks including ensuring burials can take place in council-run cemeteries.
Councillor Martyn Ford, South Derbyshire District Council’s leader and Councillor Kevin Richards, leader of the opposition group, said:
“We are extremely proud of the work of all council staff who are continuing to provide vital services to our residents.
We are particularly proud that we are currently continuing to carry out all our bin collections at a time when many other councils have had to suspend some collections. This would not be possible without our staff’s Herculean efforts.”
