More than 20 stalls on offer at Universal Credit session
More than 20 stalls will be available to offer expert advice and support on Universal Credit at a free drop in session in South Derbyshire.
Organisations including South Derbyshire District Council, South Derbyshire Business Advice, Trent and Dove and the Jobcentre are all attending Oakland Village, in Hall Farm Road, Swadlincote on Wednesday, September 26.
Universal Credit will see six working age benefits (Housing Benefit, Income Support, Child Tax Credits, Working Tax Credits, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance) replaced with a single monthly payment.
Attendees can learn more about the changes and what it means for them in a friendly, relaxed setting.
Information will be available on managing money, employment and volunteering opportunities, IT skills and support with childcare.
Cllr Martyn Ford, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, which is running the event with the Department for Work and Pensions and Trident Reach, said:
“With Universal Credit being rolled out in Swadlincote and the surrounding areas in November, we wanted to make sure residents know help is at hand.
“This drop in session is a great way for us to work with partners to make the process easier and to guide and support people through it ahead of the changeover.”
The drop in session will be held between 11am and 1.30pm.
