An action packed guide showcasing the many things to do and places to visit in South Derbyshire and The National Forest is now available.

The What’s On guide for summer and autumn 2018 is packed with hundreds of events and activities waiting to be enjoyed.

This features days and nights out, including the Derbyshire Woodland Festival, the Festival of Fireworks and the Proms in the Park at Maurice Lea Memorial Park in Church Gresley.

Young and old can try activities such as doughnut-making, sailing, snowboarding, wilderness cookery, butterfly spotting and much more besides.

Food and drink lovers are invited to feast on the Derbyshire Horticulture Show, Gin Fest, Oktoberfest, Orchard Day, wine tasting at Sealwood Cottage Vineyard in Overseal and two Swadlincote Food, Drink and Makers Fairs.

Cllr Martyn Ford, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said:

“Our What’s On Guide is jam-packed with free, annual and unique events. Residents and visitors are spoilt for ways to enjoy the sun over the summer months.

“South Derbyshire offers a fascinating backdrop and we look forward to seeing everyone come and create their own happy memories in our District.”

Also included in the guide are events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice, with concerts, festivals, exhibitions, walks and 4,680 knitted poppies by Melbourne Pool.

Other dates for the diary include comedy, jazz and Northern Soul performances, as well as opportunities to explore the past with Archaeology Live at Calke Abbey in Ticknall, Heritage Open Days and Magic Attic Film Nights.
