Your little Einsteins are invited to take part in a free fun-packed Science Discovery Day at a popular South Derbyshire tourist attraction.

Rosliston Forestry Centre promises a lesson to remember on Saturday, May 5 with a chance for the whole family to get involved in some simple experiments and enjoy much more.

People can drop in to try their hand at making their own lava lamp, get up close with creatures from Rosliston’s pond and learn more about the environment at any point between 10.30am and 4.00pm.

Members of Rosliston Astronomy Group along with astronomy experts will be on hand with telescopes to answer questions and help people learn about the weird and wonderful outer space.

Kate Allies, Environmental Education Project Manager for South Derbyshire District Council, said: “The joys of science are wide and varied, and we’re sure that those who come along to this session will discover something fascinating and learn something new.

“The Rosliston Astronomy Group and the astronomy experts never fail to grab the attention of youngsters.

“We’re delighted to have such an impressive educational resource on our doorstep and we hope lots of people will come along and join in the family fun.”

The event is suitable for all ages and admission is free, with a small charge for parking and some activities.

For further information on the Science Discovery Day and other Environmental Education sessions contact the Environmental Education Project team by calling 01283 535039 or emailing rosliston@southderbyshire.gov.uk.
