Take the chance to discover a local shopping sensation this month

Makers Market Makers Market

Live entertainment, arts, crafts, vintage and retro goods will all form part of a specialist market that is fast becoming a highlight of the local South Derbyshire shopping scene.

The monthly Swadlincote Makers Market was first held back in March and this time takes place along the High Street on Saturday 24 June 2017, co-organised by Curly Magpie and Friends and Swadlincote Markets.

The variety of gifts, unique homewares, clothing and locally produced food and drink on offer has attracted visitors from far and wide.

Andy B Goode, a 1950s rock ‘n’ roll singer, will complement the shopping offer with live performances throughout the day.

Councillor Bob Wheeler, leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said: “This will be only the fourth time the Makers Market has been held in Swadlincote but already it’s having a hugely positive influence on the vibrancy of the town centre.

“Running alongside the normal market, it really is an occasion not to be missed for anyone who is after unique and high-quality goods and produce.

“Local traders and businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy so we’d encourage people to come along and discover what they have to offer.”

Leanne Mace, one of three entrepreneurs who runs the Curly Magpie and Friends store in the High Street, said: “We have had some fantastic results from these markets, attracting new traders to Swadlincote and in turn new shoppers on to our High Street.”

The Makers Market runs between 9am and 4pm on the last Saturday of the month from March to September and combines the popular farmers’ market, formerly held on a Thursday. Admission and car parking are free.
