Step back in time and discover The Lost World

The Lost World The Lost World

A prehistoric outdoor theatre performance complete with ape men and a life-size dinosaur is promising to get families roaring with laughter in South Derbyshire.

Illyria will perform Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World at The Glade at Rosliston Forestry Centre, bringing the Jurassic period back to life.

Audience members will meet four intrepid explorers, led by the redoubtable Professor Challenger, and travel to South America to encounter dinosaurs previously believed to be extinct.

However, when the explorers’ camera is destroyed in an accident, they face bringing the specimens back to London to prove that the creatures actually exist.

Cllr Jim Hewlett, Chairman of Housing and Community Services at South Derbyshire District Council, said: "The Glade is renowned for bringing high-quality family entertainment to South Derbyshire and Illyria is the first to tackle a show in this theme and of its scope.

"This will be a highlight of the summer holidays for families wanting to come together and have some fun, all in a stunning setting."

Illyria return to Rosliston after their highly acclaimed performance of Roald Dahl’s The Twits in 2012.

Taking place at 4pm on Thursday 24 August 2017, the performance is aimed at families with older children, and all are encouraged to bring a picnic.

The show runs for one hour and 50 minutes, including a 20-minute interval.

Tickets are priced £10 each, with under-twos free, and are available from the Swadlincote Tourist Information Centre tel: 01283 222848 or at Rosliston Forestry Centre.
