Past consultations on the Local Plan Part 1

Sustainability Appraisal update

We are currently receiving a high number of planning applications which is resulting in delays to our usual response times. We are determining applications and responding to enquiries in the order they are received. We will respond as soon as possible.

The Part 1 Local Plan was submitted, together with our Evidence Base, to the Secretary of State on August 8, 2014.

Whilst the plan was suspended, a further year of housing completions, 2014 to 2015, was included in the five year supply calculation, resulting in a further shortfall in supply. A demonstrable five year supply is necessary in order for the Plan to be found sound.

Given that a further strategic site was required, we consulted on including land west of Mickleover as an additional strategic housing site. Details of the site's location and accompanying policy wording, together with an update to the Sustainability Appraisal, are available below.

Sustainability Appraisal (SA) of the plan is a key part of our Evidence Base. SA is a legally required process that aims to ensure that the likely significant effects of an emerging draft plan (and reasonable alternatives) are systematically considered and communicated.

It is a requirement that SA is undertaken in-line with the procedures prescribed by the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations (the 'SEA Regulations') 2004.

The six week consultation began midday on Tuesday, October 13, 2015. The consultation closed at 5pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2015.
