Active Schools Partnership
The South Derbyshire Active Schools Partnership (ASP) is part of the Derbyshire Active Schools Network which consists of nine partnerships across the county of Derbyshire
The goal of the South Derbyshire Active Schools Partnership is to improve the lives of young people through physical education and sport.
We support 35 infant, primary or junior schools, as well as four secondary schools, through:
Competitions and festivals
We provide an inclusive school sport calendar for all ages and abilities, allowing pupils to attend festivals and compete in competitions across a wide variety of activities.
Physical education and school sport support
Schools can access a needs-led programme to improve the standard of teaching in PE, as well as bespoke one-to-one guidance for planning and delivery.
Physical activity
Promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles forms a major part of what we do. This is achieved through projects including Change4Life. All are designed to help kids to be healthy and move more.
Leadership and volunteering
Pupils develop leadership skills through fun playground and training initiatives in infant and primary schools. Secondary school students can join our Leadership Academy, allowing them to volunteer at events and attend workshops. We also deliver Sports Leaders UK accredited qualifications.
Community clubs and groups links
We work closely with community clubs and groups to encourage participation across all ages and abilities and give young leaders the opportunity to volunteer. We also offer extensive support to the delivery of Change4Life programme, which links into schools providing breakfast, lunchtime and after school clubs.
Talent identification and development
We encourage schools to identify strong pupils in specific sports to attend our gifted and talented days. Experienced coaches put the emphasis on skill and technique, as well as offering exposure to a competitive environment.
