https://www.gov.uk/attendance-allowance Attendance Allowance helps with extra costs if you have a disability and need someone to look after you. Entitlement to Attendance Allowance will increase the amount of Guaranteed Pension Credit that you may be entitled to. This means if you (or your partner if you have one, or both of you) receive Attendance Allowance, you are more likely to receive Guaranteed Pension Credit. Please note, you do not have to have someone caring for you to be able to claim.

For Winter 2024/25 you need to
- Have been born before 23 September 1958
- Live in England or Wales
And receive one of the following benefits
- Pension Credit
- Universal Credit
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income Support
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
As a pension age person, you are most likely to claim Pension Credit. To be entitled to this years Winter Fuel Payment you need to be entitled to Pension Credit on 23 September 2024. The last date you can make a claim for Pension Credit and have it backdated for 13 weeks is 21 December 2024.
