Chair now in office
Cllr Sean Bambrick has taken up the role of Chair of South Derbyshire District Council for the second year in succession.
The Newhall resident was given the prestigious honour at the Civic Council meeting at Swadlincote Town Hall on Thursday, 23 May.
Cllr Bambrick was first elected to South Derbyshire District Council in June 2001.
He held the position of Chair in 2023/24, which he described during the Civic Council meeting as “an exceptional year”.
In his working life he did a four-year engineering apprenticeship before working down the mines, including at Cadley Hill Colliery in Swadlincote. In his spare time, Cllr Bambrick has always loved football and is a proud season ticket holder at Burton Albion FC.
Cllr Bambrick and his wife and consort Pat are now looking forward to a further year of supporting varied and interesting events and groups in and around South Derbyshire and beyond.
The Chair’s chosen charity is to be announced in the coming weeks.
Cllr Angela Archer, who represents the Woodville Ward, has been elected as the Vice-Chair of the Council for the coming year.
She and Cllr Bambrick are looking to attend as many events as possible and welcome invites from members of the public, businesses, and voluntary organisations. To do this please email chairsoffice@southderbyshire.gov.uk
