Beat the Street 2024 is under way
The popular physical activity game Beat the Street is now underway across the District, after a successful official launch event in Melbourne earlier on today.
Children and staff from Melbourne Infant School were joined by Council Chair, Councillor Sean Bambrick and the games delivery partners.
Beat the Street is a free, interactive game that encourages people of all ages to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives by rewarding teams with points and prizes the further they walk, cycle and roll.
Beeping and flashing sensors called Beat Boxes have been placed on lampposts throughout the District.
Contactless cards used to check in at the sensors have been distributed. These can be collected from a distribution point listed at www.beatthestreet.me/southderbyshire. Pick-up points include Green Bank and the Civic Offices.
Or simply download the app.
You can see a video from today's launch event on our Facebook page.
Beat the Street South Derbyshire has been commissioned by South Derbyshire District Council. It is funded by the Council, National Forest Company, Active Derbyshire, and the National Lottery via Sport England. It is being delivered by Intelligent Health.
