Gyms reopen after major refurbishment

Green bank opens Green bank opens

Green Bank Leisure Centre in Swadlincote is the first of two Everyone Active gyms to reopen its doors following a £600,000 refurbishment.

Green Bank Leisure Centre in Swadlincote and Etwall Leisure Centre, both managed by Everyone Active in collaboration with South Derbyshire District Council, have undergone extensive upgrades to enhance their facilities.

Thanks to this substantial investment, both gyms are now equipped with cutting-edge Life Fitness cardio machines and Hammer Strength plate-loaded and lifting equipment. They also feature the latest recovery tools such as rollers, massage guns, and dedicated stretch zones, complemented by new lighting and flooring to provide a refreshed ambiance.

Green Bank Leisure Centre's gym has been expanded to accommodate 100 stations and reopened on Sunday, June 2, with an official reopening ceremony taking place earlier today (Monday, 2 June.) The ceremony included a ribbon-cutting event attended by invited guests who toured the upgraded facilities. A live DJ will also be providing music in the evening, to energize members as part of the official opening.

Etwall Leisure Centre's gym, which has increased to 50 stations, will reopen on Thursday, June 6.

Additionally, Everyone Active will introduce personal training services at both locations upon their reopening.

Nick Fearnett, contract manager at Everyone Active, expressed his enthusiasm: "We cannot wait to reopen these gyms and show the local community the fantastic facilities on their doorstep. Both gyms are looking fantastic and the state-of-the-art equipment that has been brought in will serve gymgoers for years to come. No matter what your interests or ability, there is a gym activity for you at Etwall and Green Bank, as well as a variety of other activities across both centres."

A Council spokesperson added: “The collaborative partnership with Everyone Active has brought improved health and fitness amenities to our communities and we are thrilled to see these modernized facilities reopen. This investment will provide South Derbyshire residents with access to two first-class gyms, encouraging more people to engage in physical activity and lead healthier lives.”
