Journey of discovery in store for town centre visitors
A bustling town centre is set to come alive with free entertainment, family fun and a sprinkling of magic as visitors are invited to discover all that it has to offer.
The inaugural Swadlincote Small Business Showcase will provide an opportunity to meet local businesses and learn more about their unique array of products and services – from dog walking, sports coaching, holistic therapies and personalised gifts to financial advice, electrical services, homewares, children’s clothing and baby classes, among many others.
Live music will come from local covers band ‘Mid Life Crisis’ from Swadlincote, who will be performing popular hits from the last decade, while talented magician Illia Levchenko is sure to delight the crowd. There will also be a free bouncy castle and face painting.
The event will take place in the town centre, between 9am and 2pm on Saturday, 20 July 2024. It has been made possible by Keelie Briggs Marketing Consultancy, SW Markets and South Derbyshire Business Advice Service joining forces with local businesses and organisations keen to promote Swadlincote’s exciting and ever-expanding offer.
Councillor Robert Pearson, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said: “This event – the first of its kind in Swadlincote – will be a great opportunity to support local businesses and discover all they have to offer, against the backdrop of a vibrant, family-friendly vibe.
“It promises to be a real eye-opener for those who don’t yet know about all the great businesses that call Swadlincote home. What you need might be closer than you think.”
The Showcase will also see the launch of a ‘Discover Swadlincote’ town centre promotional campaign, with the first of a series of social media videos to be shared on the day.
Businesses can join the Swadlincote Small Business Showcase at no cost, and admission is free for visitors.
