Young entrepreneurs to take over Swadlincote Market
Young entrepreneurs from The William Allitt School in South Derbyshire are being given the chance to run their own market stalls to learn about markets and running a business, whilst also raising money for charity.
Swadlincote Market is taking part in this year’s Love Your Local Market celebrations. Pupils from the school will be visiting the Market on Friday 19 May and Tuesday 23 May.
Following a Dragon’s Den style interview with the South Derbyshire Business Advice Service, the impressive youngsters will be supporting Harley’s Hounds, a charity close to the students' hearts for their work rehoming animals.
Among their fundraising ideas they will be offering a bake sale of homemade cakes (including vegan and gluten free options!) and dog treats, a tombola or lucky dip, crafts, spray-paint artwork and magic tricks.
Swadlincote Market is offering them stalls free of charge as part of its support for Love Your Local Market.
Some well-known household names started out their business life trading on markets such as Superdry, Monsoon, Marks and Spencer and Poundland, and markets offer an affordable way to test trade a business idea.
Love Your Local Market aims to highlight the important role of markets in our towns and communities, create opportunities for young people and encourage individuals to give market trading a go!
