My payment hasn't reached my bank account - why?

If you don't receive the payment into your bank account in line with the above dates, there are a few reasons why:

  • You did not upload the required evidence/the evidence you provided was wrong/unclear. We are processing thousands of applications. Because of this we do not have time to chase people for evidence (if for example the evidence they have provided is unclear, or they have not uploaded bank statements as requested or they have provided different evidence such as an energy bill). In line with the introduction on the online form, if you have applied, but you haven't provide the required evidence/the evidence you have provided is unclear, your payment will be made to your council tax account. If this happens to you, you will recieve a bill in the next few weeks showing the rebate paid to your council tax account, and you can call us up to request a refund at this point if you wish to, or alternatively you can pay £150 less in council tax this year. If you do chose to call us, please be aware our lines are very busy. Visit www.southderbyshire.gov.uk/energyrebate to see how the rebate looks on your council tax bill.
  • You requested the payment is made to your council tax account. You will recieve a bill in the next few weeks showing the rebate paid to your council tax account, and you can call us up to request a refund at this point if you wish to, or alternatively you can pay £150 less in council tax this year. If you do chose to call us, please be aware our lines are very busy. Visit www.southderbyshire.gov.uk/energyrebate to see how the rebate looks on your council tax bill.
  • You have already been paid the rebate. We have recieved a number of duplicate applications for properties that have already been paid the rebate. If you don't receive the rebate in line with the above dates, please go back through your statements to check you have not already recieved it.
  • We received your application after 5pm on the deadline date. We recieved a number of applications shortly after the 5pm deadline date and these were not processed in line with the deadlines we set out. These will be processed in the next batch according to the above dates.

I've asked for the rebate to go onto my council tax account - when will I get my new bill?

We will order the new council tax bills as soon as we have applied the payments to people's council tax accounts. If could take up to three weeks from the payment date for the new bill to reach customers.

The new bills will show the rebate as shown below:

In the bill above, the £150 energy rebate payment is shown in the total payments to-date.

In this example, the customer to date has made three instalment payments of £153 to date in April, May and June (a total of £459). The customer's July instalment has been mostly paid for by the £150 energy rebate (all but £3), showing a total payments figure of £609 (£459 paid by the customer + £150 energy rebate).

The customer now has £3 to pay for their July instalment (instead of the usual £153 instalment) and the customer's remaining instalments for the year remain the same.

Please note: If we have already called for your direct debit for your monthly payment (for example if we called for July's payment on 1 July) and your energy rebate payment goes in later in the month (for example on 21 July), your energy rebate payment will be taken from your next available instalment (for example on 1 August).

If you have any questions about your new bill and how the energy rebate has been applied, please email ctax.nndr@southderbyshire.gov.uk.
