Don’t miss out on business grants

South Derbyshire businesses are being urged not to miss out on business grants that are available.
South Derbyshire District Council is currently administering two grant schemes and is urging local businesses to find out if they could be eligible
The events and festivals scheme is available to businesses with fewer than 250 employees, including event and festival management companies, wedding and event organisers, suppliers to the performing arts, festival, weddings and funerals industries who can demonstrate their business has been adversely affected by COVID-19.
Businesses who have previously received a grant under round one of the rated and discretionary grants schemes can apply to the events and festivals scheme.
The discretionary restart grant scheme is available to small businesses with fewer than 250 employees based in South Derbyshire, or who trade primarily in South Derbyshire, that were affected by the lockdowns. This could include businesses that were required to close and businesses that were able to remain open but were adversely affected.
Businesses that have already received a restart grant (either rated or discretionary) may not apply.
Councillor Kevin Richards, South Derbyshire District Council’s Leader, said: “We are proud to have distributed more than £24 million in grants to support South Derbyshire businesses since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we are aware that there are eligible businesses that may not already have applied.
“We are particularly keen to reach businesses who have not benefited from a grant before – perhaps because they are home-based or mobile and did not realise they could be eligible.
“I’d urge all eligible businesses who have not already come forward to apply without delay.”
There is no deadline to apply but grants will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
