COVID-19 Council Tax hardship fund

The Government has provided £500 million funding to councils across the country to support households on a low income that are likely to face financial hardship as a result of COVID-19.

South Derbyshire District Council is using the majority of this funding to provide working age residents who already receive council tax support with up to £300 off their council tax bills for the 2020/2021 financial year.

The council has applied this reduction automatically to eligible accounts, and new bills that detail the hardship fund have been sent to the households that are eligible for the extra help.

The council has also set aside a portion of the funding to help any new cases during the rest of this financial year.

Any households on a low income that do not already claim Council Tax support to visit  www.southderbyshire.gov.uk/ctrs find out if they may be eligible.

To find out more about the hardship fund, read our Council Tax Hardship Fund policy. If you have any queries, please email
