With less than three weeks to go until the registration deadline South Derbyshire District Council is encouraging residents who are not already registered to vote to do so.

On Thursday, May 2 voters in South Derbyshire will go to the polls for District elections.

Some parishes in the District will also have parish elections on the same day.

If you want to be able to vote at this election, the deadline is midnight, Friday 12 April.

Ardip Kaur, Deputy Returning Officer for South Derbyshire, said:

“With less than three weeks to go, time is fast running out to ensure you can vote in this election. Our message is simple: if you’re not registered by 12 April, you can’t vote. If you’re not already registered to vote you may apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

“Applications for postal votes must reach us by 5pm on Monday 15 April.”
