Picnics and Prosecco at the ready for Proms in the Park
A music extravaganza is set to strike a chord with South Derbyshire residents this summer.
The first Proms in the Park at Maurice Lea Memorial Park, Church Gresley, will treat guests to an afternoon of live entertainment on Sunday, August 19.
Newhall Brass Band will perform popular pieces by John Williams and Glen Miller, as well as singalongs such as Jerusalem and Pomp and Circumstance. Andy B Goode will belt out hits from the Rat Pack and Swing era while Eureka Bands is performing New Orleans style jazz.
As the action unfolds, music lovers can indulge in afternoon tea, cakes, tray bakes and clotted cream scones. Specially prepared afternoon and cream teas need to be pre-ordered at www.lilsparlour.co.uk. Cakes and other bites can be purchased on the day.
Caterer Carlicious will be providing a vintage horsebox prosecco bar and a traditional ice cream trike for those who want to cool off.
Cllr Martyn Ford, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said:
“Proms in the Park is shaping up to be a hugely enjoyable and memorable occasion, with a dynamic mix of music spanning across a wide variety of genres.
