Giant Jenga, an inflatable giant sports arena and laser combat are just a few of the activities set to keep youngsters entertained throughout the summer.

The Active South Derbyshire Summer Activities 2018 brochure is jam-packed full of fun, free activities taking place across the length and breadth of the District.

Parents and guardians can pick up a copy from libraries and leisure centres, or download it here. 

The Play Mobile will be visiting a wide variety of locations with games such as giant Snakes and Ladders, Connect Four and not forgetting the arts & craft table full of craft activities.

Fast paced fun is guaranteed with the Sports Mobile, offering athletics, football, goal ball, cricket, rounders, tennis, rugby and dodgeball.

Meanwhile, a giant inflatable mountain climb, part of the Adventure Mobile, is a must for all daredevils.

All activities are run by qualified staff and are free. There is no need to book, just turn up.

Cllr Martyn Ford, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council, said:

“There is no excuse for young people to get bored this summer. Our packed line up offers something for everyone to experience, explore and enjoy, from exciting sporting activities to amazing wildlife explorations in the heart of the National Forest.”

Young explorers who love being at one with nature can discover a variety of family-friendly activities provided by the Environmental Education team at Rosliston Forestry Centre.

Search for flying creatures – including flies, butterflies, dragonflies and birds - at the ‘Wings around Rosliston’ session on Tuesday, August 7. 

There’s also opportunity to head out on a guided ‘Minibeast Safari’ walk to explore various different habitats on site and meet some tiny creatures on Tuesday, August 14.

Other activities include pond dipping and a treasure hunt.
