South Derbyshire District Council welcomes new Strategic Director
A new Strategic Director with a ‘love and passion’ for all things South Derbyshire has taken up the reins at the District Council.
Allison Thomas began her role at the Civic Offices in Swadlincote last week and is looking forward to helping the District to continue to grow and flourish.
The mother of one has joined from Derbyshire County Council, where she was the Service Director for Transport and Environment.
She will call on more than two decades of experience in the public sector to help fulfil the Council’s vision of making South Derbyshire a better place to live, work and visit.
Allison said: “South Derbyshire is a rapidly growing District with lots of potential and opportunities to explore, so I’m hugely excited to be a part of it.”
As someone who has lived in Mickleover and Sutton on the Hill, both in South Derbyshire, Allison feels like she is returning home with her new job.
She added: “This is a District that I love and that I’m passionate about. I will use both my experience of working strategically and directing front line service delivery to try and make a positive difference for the residents and businesses of South Derbyshire.”
Allison will be overseeing the Community, Cultural, Planning, Housing, Leisure and Environmental teams during her time at South Derbyshire District Council.
Chief Executive Frank McArdle said: “With a wealth of experience and a strategic background, Allison is a very welcome addition to our Leadership Team.
“We are an ambitious Council, with clear aims for how we want the District to develop through our Corporate Plan. Allison will have a key role in helping us to achieve those aspirations.”
