Nightlife in the spotlight

The Boot Inn The Boot Inn

Places to go in South Derbyshire for a great night out are being highlighted in a new leaflet now available from the Tourist Information Centre in Swadlincote.

The stories behind award-winning venues such as the Boot Inn in Repton - named AA Pub of the Year 2016/17 - and The Chip & Pin in Melbourne, voted Best Micro Pub in the UK by The Times, are on the leaflet.

Also being included as part of the What’s On guide for the District, the leaflet has details of South Derbyshire pubs being recommended by the latest edition of The Good Pub Guide as “worth a visit”.

Gyms and fitness studios as well as other night time economy venues such as the Odeon Cinema and Swadlincote Golf Centre driving range are listed on the leaflet, together with their web addresses and contact numbers.

Commenting, Cllr Bob Wheeler, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council said:

“We have set ourselves the aim in our Corporate Plan of further developing and promoting South Derbyshire's evening and night time economy and the leaflet is part of that work

“Thousands of residents and visitors now appreciate the very many daytime attractions South Derbyshire has to offer, we are keen to encourage more people to realise what a great place it is after dark too.

Among other things, South Derbyshire has some of the best pubs in the country - they hold the awards to prove it!”

Copies of the leaflet can be picked up at Swadlincote Tourist Information Centre at Sharpe’s Pottery Museum in West Street or downloaded as part of the latest What’s On guide on the website.

South Derbyshire businesses can use the hashtag #NightlifeinSD to highlight their offerings in the sector.

Swadlincote Town Team provides a local network bringing businesses together to share ideas and work together to explore opportunities to increase evening activities and provide a greater visitor offer. For further information, visit the Swadlincote Town Team on Facebook.
