Variety the spice of life at July Makers Market
A much-anticipated specialist market will return for its next instalment with more live entertainment, arts, crafts, vintage and retro goods.
The monthly Swadlincote Makers Market this time takes place along the High Street on Saturday 29 July 2017, co-organised by Curly Magpie and Friends and Swadlincote Markets.
Since launching in March the market has attracted visitors from far and wide with its variety of gifts, unique homewares, clothing and locally produced food and drink on offer.
Singer Jenny Quinn will complement the shopping offer by performing 1960s, Motown and modern classics, while free Funky Faces face painting will be available in High Street between 10am and 1pm. A hog roast will cater for hungry bargain-hunters.
The Makers Market runs between 9am and 4pm and will do so on the last Saturday of the month until September.
South Derbyshire District Council Chairman Councillor Michael Stanton, who was at Curly Magpie and Friends this week to meet the organisers, said: “The Makers Market is a terrific event and, though it’s still in its infancy, it has pulled in visitors from far and wide thanks to the high-quality unique goods it offers.
“It runs alongside the normal market, meaning the town is a hive of activity with something on offer for those of all ages and tastes.
“Supporting local businesses is a key aim of the council and we hope people will come along and show their backing, too.”
The Makers Market combines the popular farmers’ market, formerly held on a Thursday, with admission and car parking free.
