New electric charge points heading for Melbourne, Hilton, and Hatton

South Derbyshire is taking another stride towards achieving its ambition of being a carbon neutral district as the installation of 24 more electric car charging points gets underway.

The charge points across three of our car parks are all being installed following successful bids for funding from the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles.

The funding is aimed at providing residents with easily accessible charge points so they can recharge vehicles when they are not at home.

The additional benefit of having them in public car parks is that other people can use them when residents are not.

When the installation works are completed, the Council will have a total of 42 charge points. The new easy-access charge points will help residents already using an electric vehicle or encourage those looking to make the switch; it will also help the Council’s planned transition to more electric vehicles within its fleet over the next decade.
