Residents within South Derbyshire are being invited to have their say about key issues that are at the heart of their communities. 

Hot topics such as crime, anti-social behaviour, local community projects, Council news, events and initiatives will all be on the agenda with Council officers, District and County Councillors and the local police team joining in discussions with residents about these at the upcoming Area Forum meetings.

Area Forums also spark ideas, conversations and provide a friendly platform to raise concerns and issues that are affecting particular areas.

The Area Forum meetings are as follows:

  • Newhall Area Forum - covering Midway, Newhall and Stanton. Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Newhall Old Post Centre.
  • Etwall Area Forum – covering Ash, Barton Blount, Bearwardcote, Burnaston, Church Broughton, Dalbury Lees, Egginton, Etwall, Foston & Scropton, Hatton, Hilton, Hoon, Marston-on-Dove, Osleston & Thurvaston, Radbourne, Sutton-on-the-Hill and Trusley. Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Egginton Memorial Hall.
  • Melbourne Area Forum – covering Melbourne, Barrow-on-Trent, Stanton-by-Bridge, Swarkestone, Weston-on-Trent, Aston-on-Trent, Shardlow, Thulston, Ambaston and Elvaston. Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Aston Recreation Centre.
  • Swadlincote Area Forum - covering Church Gresley, Swadlincote, Woodville, Hartshorne Village and Goseley. Tuesday, June 18,  2019 at Woodville Methodist Chapel.
  • Repton Area Forum - covering Bretby, Calke, Findern, Foremark, Ingleby, Newton Solney, Repton (including hamlet of Milton), Smisby, Stenson Fields, Ticknall, Twyford & Stenson and Willington. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Stenson Fields School.
  • Linton Area Forum - covering Castle Gresley, Catton, Cauldwell, Coton-in-the-Elms, Drakelow, Linton, Lullington, Netherseal, Overseal, Rosliston and Walton-on-Trent. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Walton Village Hall.

Cllr Martyn Ford, Leader of South Derbyshire District Council said:

“We hope that these Area Forums will inspire our residents to come together and learn more about what’s happening in their neighbourhood. This is an excellent platform for the community to speak to council officers, district and county councillors and the local police team – all in one place.

 “Just like our previous sessions, we hope that this round of Area Forum meetings spark a real sense of community spirit and reassurance to the District.”

Area Forum meetings all start at 6.30pm – 8.00pm.
